The Center for Global Education (CGE) strives to create opportunities so that every University of Lynchburg student has the chance to study outside of the normal classroom setting. Lynchburg offers a wide variety of program options to our students for Study Abroad, Domestic Study Away, International Internships, and Service Abroad. Students can participate in these programs in a number of different formats such as Short-term faculty led, semester long, or academic year programs. Students can participate in off-campus study experiences during the fall, winter (Jterm), spring, or summer! Our partnerships with colleges and universities around the work make study abroad accessible for more students. In fact, Lynchburg students are more than twice as likely to study abroad as their peers at similar institutions.
University of Lynchburg’s mission is to develop students with strong character and balanced perspectives and to prepare them for engagement in a global society. Lynchburg understands that the world is a collection of interdependent yet inequitable systems and that study abroad/ away experiences are an important part of an academic experience. CGE provides experiences that help students develop global competencies and intercultural knowledge. CGE and the Study Abroad Committee review academic rigor, health, safety, security, and services of all programs before they are approved.
CGE is open Monday through Friday and is located on the first floor of Hopwood Hall in room 017. If you have any questions about your program options or how to apply please feel free to stop by CGE or email studyabroad@lynchburg.edu with any questions or to set up a meeting time. Going places takes you places and we are here to help take you places!
