What is Included: Estimated trip fee includes: ground transportation in Wyoming, lodging, meals, required program excursions & entry fees

*Estimated trip fee may change due to fluctuating costs, number of students enrolled in the trip, and change in program protocols due to covid-19.

*$250 deposit is required by April 16, 2021. This is credited towards the overall trip fee. The deposit is refundable only if the university cancels the trip. All fees will be refunded should the University cancel the trip due to the global pandemic. A decision will be made no later than May 2021 regarding program cancellation.
What is not Included: Airfare, tuition, passport/ driver’s license/REAL ID, luggage fees, insurance, spending money of personal nature such as, but not limited, to phone service, laundry, souvenirs, bank transaction fees, etc. If your program requires courses before the start of the trip, your university meal plan will not be able to be used after the end of the normal semester.
Estimated Costs: Tuition billed separately. Summer rates will be released in March 2021.

Note: Due to Covid-19, a contingency fee will be included in the program fee in case of unforeseen events. Any unused amounts will be credited back to the participant.

Program Description

Study and conduct geological and paleontological field research. Students will camp in Greybull, Wyoming and learn how to interact with peers and mentors in a field camp setting. Participants in the dig include students, volunteers from the community, and researchers from University of Lynchburg and Virginia Museum of Natural History. Students will excavate a Jurassic-aged (145 million years ago) sauropod dinosaur from the Two Sisters Quarry near Shell, Wyoming. This course will also include a field trip to Yellowstone National Park to explore the unique ecosystem that is contains, as well as a museum trip to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopolis.
