Program Description

Experience the French-speaking culture and the European charm of Quebec City by investing four weeks in this superb immersion program! While abroad, you will enroll in French language acquisition courses focused on listening comprehension and oral expression taught by Laval University’s expert language instructors. Coursework will utilize real life situations and everyday topics, allowing for a relevant and unique language immersion experience. The beautiful city of Quebec and its surroundings on the St. Lawrence River provide the perfect setting for planned cultural activities which will engage students in language practice, as well as exploring the local natural beauty through hiking and kayaking excursions.
To enhance the cultural experience and maximize language practice, participants will stay with host families, which are carefully selected by the Laval University’s International Office. Each host family will provide students with a room and daily breakfast and dinner -students will be responsible for buying their lunches. Taking part in a home-stay is a deeply rewarding experience and offers students an unparalleled opportunity for language practice, cultural exchange, and making lifelong friends.
Successful completion of the program will fulfill the foreign language general education requirement by taking the equivalent of FREN 201 at Laval University after completing FREN 102 at LC. Classes are also available for French majors and minors.
