Program Description

This program is designed to introduce students to the countries of Central Europe, home & inspiration for many legendary psychologist such as Sigmund Freud.
As well as visiting sites associated with these famous psychologists students will learn how the history of the region, especially the rise of Nazism, World War II, & atrocities committed during the war, impacted the psychology theories about prejudice & conformity today.
Students will also reflect on how cultural identity & community play a role in an individual’s well-being. They will compare & contrast their own experiences with those of people living in other cultures such as Central Europe & how well-being is influenced by exposure to influences such as art & architecture, social class or status, & broader norms/expectations dictated by the culture/society in which we live.
